What is Bongo’s Bingo?

Bingo tends to be thought of as a game for older people and pensioners, but that’s all changed in recent years with events such as Bongo’s Bingo! This lively event is held in nightclub style venues up and down the UK and has become incredibly popular amongst the younger generations. In fact, if you have anyone in your household in their teens, 20s or 30s, they’ve probably already enjoyed a night out at this event.

Bongo’s Bingo is no ordinary game of bingo, however, so if you are not familiar with it, carry on reading.

What Do You Do at Bongo’s Bingo?

At the heart of Bongo’s Bingo is your standard game of bingo and your bingo tickets are included in the participation entrance fee. This is usually around £15 but will vary depending on the city and venue. There are lots of rounds of bingo to enjoy taking part in but the twist is that this is combined with what can only be described as a rave! You’ll be laughing and drinking with friends as you play bingo, enjoy cocktail pitchers and dance the night away with regular intervals where the lights dim, the music is blasted and the crowd goes wild.

Don’t expect lots of current chart music to be playing as what makes this event so fun is that lots of old-school favourites play too. You’ll be waving glow sticks in your hands and belting out Westlife before you know it. At some events, there may even be a celebrity guest like David Hasselhoff making an appearance or pop bands such as the Vengaboys. What’s not to love?

Just like your standard game of bingo, there are also lots of fantastic, and funny, prizes to be won…

What are the Prizes at Bongo’s Bingo?

There are lots of great prizes to be won when playing Bongo’s Bingo and as the game progresses, the prizes get bigger and better. So, at first don’t be disheartened when prizes start as silly items such as boxes of cereal. Although, getting a prize like this can be lots of fun as you’ll have the choice to keep the cereal or spray it over the crowd! Most, of course, choose the latter. Plus, there is the od raunchy prize too which always get lots of laughs from the crowd. Another incredibly popular prize that appears most nights is the Henry Hoover which has become a classic for the event. As you head towards the end of the night, this is when you can look forward to bigger prizes like holidays and envelopes of cash into the thousands!

This isn’t always a night for the faint-hearted and shy, as you may have to take part in a dance-off. That’s right, if more than one person calls bingo, you’ll end up on stage in a dance-off where the crowd will decide who gets to take home the prize, so you’ll need to give it all you’ve got!

It’s also worth noting that you don’t want to make a false bingo call during this game. Why? Well, if you do, you can expect lots of boos from the crowd and those around you but it’s all in good fun, of course.

How Long Does Bongo’s Bingo Last?

Bongo’s Bingo usually lasts a couple of hours, so if you are booking tickets, don’t make other plans for that night. What’s more, we would recommend showing up at least half an hour before the game starts as everyone is seated at long tables and these fill up fast, so if you want to make sure you are seated next to your friends this is a must.

How Does Bongo’s Bingo Online Work?

During lockdown, unfortunately, Bongo’s Bingo events have had to be put on hold. However, the team who run the event have been putting on some awesome online events instead! The event is streamed on Twitch and there is no participation entrance fee. All you need is a pen, paper and a UK registered phone and you’re good to go. Head on over to their social media pages as this is the best place to find out all the latest news on streaming events and this is where they’ll also announce when live shows are resuming.

As you can see, Bongo’s Bingo is one of the UK’s best events to attend and has reinvented the game of bingo for the younger generations. If you see tickets on sale, be quick, as they always sell out extremely quickly and ticket access can be limited.
